Ladies and Gentlemen, we are in an era where women are not only
holding more profound leadership roles in today’s society, but women are even
holding onto their own pants and wearing them in the most upbeat fashionable
way! Collectively, I personally feel we speak our intentions vicariously
through our own choices of fashion wear. If our outfits make us look unique,
bold, elegant, sexy, powerful, and beautiful, then it is by choice that we want
everyone to perceive us by every single one of those characteristics.
Essentially, we wear what we feel and we often want everyone else to see how we
feel.
Born circa 1920's during
the First World War against Britain, The Pants Suit, aka Trouser Suits, was worn
by women as they peaked their way into the industrial workforce. More apparent
in mid 1960s, The Pants Suit essentially became a fashion statement to show
women in power and enforced gender equality. Well-known fashion
designers at the time promoted the idea and it created a widespread of
believers as well as non-believers that dubbed the attire as inappropriate and
mimicry to the male gender. For example, Yves Saint Laurent introduced his LeSmoking line of evening suits
for women that resembled a gentlemen’s tuxedo. Although women’s triumph over
respect and power has been an on-going struggle even in today’s society, we
have made much progress in gaining a pool of acceptance as well as transcending
The Pant Suit to “Women in Power” attire with elegance and extreme admiration.
Leading by example, I have featured a few of my most favorite women
of tomorrow who sports The Pant Suit with great charisma. I believe their
immaculate success and power in their own talents are sending the most perfect
message of women in power through wearing the Pants Suit.
Maggie Q is my role model of all models and actresses because she is
simply a remarkable person. She has a huge compassion for dogs, major skills in
martial arts, always does her own stunts, and a persistent type-A personality relevant
in her achievements through career successes in film, modeling and especially
in her involvement with the dog-community (PETA). As for her choice of style
for the Pant Suit, she wore a simple classy and chic black jumpsuit by Yves Saint
Laurent at The Late Night Show with David Letterman in 2014 promoting the
launch of the movie Divergent.
Emma Stone is another successful actress that everyone love for her humor and beautiful soul. You may have fallen in love with her in Crazy, Stupid, Love, Birdman, and The Amazing Spider-Man just to name a few. She stunned everyone at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards in a gorgeous pantsuit embellished with sparkling diamonds by Lanvin.
Last but not least, Emma Watson is a leading young lady and has already taken on many prominent
roles at only age 25. At age 9, she made her way to the public eye as the
adorable and witty witch named Hermione Granger from The Harry Potter film series.
As of today, she is keeping busy not only in the film industry but also making
an impact on the world. Currently, she is in the midst of filming Walt Disney’s
Beauty and the Beast (cast as the beautiful Belle) as well as taking the role as
UN Women Goodwill Ambassador appointed to her back in 2014. Relevant in
her courageous speech about gender equality at the UN Women HeforShe
campaign, Emma gives us a reason to admire her endlessly. Emma looks sharp in a
classic black and white pant suit when she attended David Letterman Late Night show inMarch 2014 during the release of the movie Noah where she portrays Ila,
the adopted daughter of Noah.
While looking lavishly stunning and confident in their choice of
the Pant Suit, these ladies as well as others not mentioned here, have much on their
shoulders than what meets the eye. They are all beautiful as well as talented,
brave, and strong. They all have endured obstacles and loopholes to be given
the recognition they deserve in present day. In essence, their embodiment of
the Pant Suit mirrors the type of values they each hold which serves the most perfect
portrayal of “women in power”. No longer is the Pant Suit made to mimic men
superiority, but I believe it has now transcended to tailor and beautify the women
physique as a stand for power.

It is full blown beach season in California. Despite the gloomy weather and humid air us
Californians have been experiencing lately, the beaches are still the happening
spot. To me, going to the beach is such
a natural remedy to life and work balance.
It clears my mind and heart from anything negative because the fresh
salt water breeze and the sound of crashing waves truly bring me to a tranquil
and uninterrupted piece of mind.
Besides the wonderful nature of the sea, the attire for the
beach requires minimal effort. Hooray!
If you are anything like me, I don’t like wearing my bathing suit all
day because I get cold easily. After
swimming, I prefer to slip into a cover up.
A cover up can be a nice over-sized shirt that covers up the top part of
your body, a light-weight dress or even a hooded sweater. Since I have had two kids, I am a little shy
with my body so I am always sure to bring a cover up with me to wear when I am
not in the water. And besides, I’m
pretty conservative with it comes down to my swim wear. But that is another story to be told later. For now, I’d like to share some of my “Must
Haves” cover ups for this summer season.
These cover ups can be worn all day at the beach or even at a fancy pool
party. Either way, I am really
infatuated with these items and I hope you like them too, not to mention they
are on sale right now from Victoria’s Secret.
It is never a bad idea to snag good stuff for less than full price
especially if it is from a popular brand.

Today we celebrate Independence Day – the day of the everyday
we are liberated to act on our dreams, goals and decisions to live the life we
want. We are fortunate to live in a nation that allows us to be free spirited. To celebrate this very
liberated day, I am celebrating it with family by the poolside with delicious barbecue and dressing up in simple, casual and comfy patriotic wears. I chose my blue rustic denim shorts to go with my tan lace haltered top. To
add some patriotic flare, I paired my outfit with subtle red Volcom sandals.
Also, my little pups wanted to join in on the fun too so I made them matching
bandanas! What are you wearing today?

July fourth is just around the corner
and I can hardly wait for the festivities to start. Here is a quick throwback
to last year’s Fourth of July with Tiff and me grabbing some ribs at Sprouts for our barbecue. The weather was just so perfect and we decided to
complement our patriotic tanks with a fedora. We don’t normally purposely
try to be twins, but since we both wanted to wear the tank top we made an
exception. The tank top was very lightweight and was fairly priced at Target. This top can either be paired with denim shorts or long
jeans. This is truly a versatile piece and can be re-worn even after the
holiday!

Not until five years ago did my sister and I develop a mad
crush for Lace. Come to find out that Lace is just simply vintage,
elegant, classy and most definitely historical. Lace existed during the
16th century and was found dominant more for fashion in northwestern
Europe. As you can see, it didn’t take long for Lace to gain popularity
all over the world. Lace can be incorporated in almost anything
from apparel to accessories! I can only hope that lace continues to be
influential in fashion and prevail through time. Dress like you’re royal,
be bold, be vintage…wear lace!
I would like to share a few of my favorite dresses with lace
incorporation. Firstly, I truly adore
Taylor Swift’s ivory dress designed by Elie Saab. She may have worn this dress in 2012 at the
ARIA Awards, but it still holds a top spot in my book. This dress may not be all lace but the lace
side panels really work for me. The lace
insets completely define the dress and help add elegance to the bustier-looking
top and draped chiffon skirt.
Second picture reveals the black dresses I find bold and chic which are also by Elie Saab. He’s
infamous for his lace designs and elegant wear. From the beaded details to the sheer embroideries, these dresses
wouldn’t be perfect without the incorporation of lace on the sleeves and chest.
Taking Lace back to its royal roots, Catherine, Duchess of
Cambridge, posed in an Alexander McQueen dress at a National Thanksgiving
Service for The Queen. This dress
exudes sophistication and class which is made to fit a Duchess. I like the dark champagne silk belt contrast,
which I feel defines the waistline and add curvature to Catherine’s
physique. I would say that she is
embracing the royal look perfectly.
If you never thought about wearing lace before, please think
again. Lace is truly an asset to the
fashion world and it can make you fall in love once you start embracing the
look in your wardrobe.
